Discover Yerbe Mate for energy

Updated: Dec 4, 2020

I’m always on the quest to find an alternative to coffee. Don’t get me wrong, I love coffee and the buzz, but I can only have 1 a day or I get the jitters. I also don’t want stained teeth and want to have a more alkalized body (to help me reverse the grey hairs!). After some research, I discovered Yerbe Mate, a herb from South America. So here are some facts on this fantastic herb for natural sustained energy.

Yerba Mate is a vegetal, earthy, bittersweet, and herbaceous plant popularly consumed in Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil, and Uruguay. Yerba Mate is more popular in South America, which is believed to be the origin of the herb. The fact that this plant is a herb diversifies its importance, uses, and meaning; the herb is known to have medicinal benefits and in the making of energy beverages. You'll be surprised at how much of sentimental value this herb carries to the natives who treat it as a sacred gift to the gods. Over time, people have derived several methods of preparing the Yerba Mate, mostly into tea. As a beverage, the Yerba Mate contains the energy levels of coffee, healing aspects of herbal tea, components of the traditional tea flavour, and just like chocolate emanates the feel-good factor.

The Yerba Mate has many benefits such as the sustained release of energy, the tea made from this herb is a good source of morning energy, especially for those who want to cut down coffee consumption. According to many folklores, the Yerba Mate is used for medicinal purposes; it contains a significant amount of antioxidants, which reduces inflammation hence preferred than green tea. It's fascinating how the past generations kept their health in check without consuming many chemicals; Yerba Mate was used as a detoxifier and aided in digestion. In addition to this, the herb protects the heart through vasorelaxation and increasing blood circulation. Yerba Mate is, without doubt, a wonderful natural source of energy, and Yabe Mate tea should be the go-to beverage.

Where can I get Yerbe Mate?

Yogi Tea does a magic 'Positive Energy' tea with a blend of Yerbe Mate .. but there are many other Yerbe Mate varieties at health food stores like Evelyn Faye and Happy Herbs.
